Self-Portrait Photography
Below is a collection of my self-portrait photography in chronological order. I am the creative director, photographer, model and editor for all shoots. Through my art, I hope to inspire people of all shapes and sizes to love themselves as they are and see themselves as art.
Above The Clouds: This was my very first self-portrait session, completed in April of 2023. I wanted to create something fun and whimsical, so I took a moon lamp I already owned and designed a set around that.
In The Spotlight: This was the second self-portrait project I completed, also in April of 2023. I wanted to play with lighting and shadows, so I used a sunset lamp for the cool lighting effect.
The Blue Curtain: I had a blue curtain at home and decided to play around with it as a background and try a monochromatic look. This was my third self portrait session and was completed in April of 2023.
Jungle Baby: My fourth self-portrait shoot was to celebrate my love for houseplants. I thought it would be fun to arrange them in a way that would look like I was in the jungle. This was completed April 2023.
May Flowers: My fifth self-portrait session was made for the month of May (as April showers bring May flowers. This was completed in May of 2023
Silhouette: For my sixth self-portrait shoot, I wanted to play with Silhouettes. It was empowering to move my body to make interesting shapes and appreciate my human form. Shot in May 2023.
The Girl with the Pearls: For my seventh self-portrait shoot, I wanted to try a fun makeup look. I am very interested in editorial-style images, so I wanted to create an interesting look for this shoot. Shot in May 2023.
After Hiatus: After a short, month-long Hiatus from creating, my eighth shoot was dramatic and moody. I wanted to do something simplistic (no makeup, black clothing) to appreciate raw beauty. June 2023
The Garden: For my ninth self-portrait shoot, I challenged myself to make a set with $15 at the dollar store. This is the concept I was able to come up with. May 2023.
The Girl From the Painting: For my tenth shoot, I wanted to do something special. I had this idea in my head to come out of a painting, and after finding the perfect frame at the flea market I was ready. I chose a beach for some background interest. August 2023
Spotted: For my eleventh shoot, I went to a set in LA to get a downtown city vibe and escape my studio apartment. This one reminded me of Gossip Girl and was a different photography style than I usually try. August 2023
Marble: On my twelfth shoot, I took a marble backdrop I had and played with an overhead angle that I hadn't tried before. October 2023
Daylight: Just in time for Halloween, my 13th photoshoot was a nod to one of my favorite Harry Styles music videos, Daylight. I built the backdrop and knives on my own with materials from home depot, and found costume materials at the local thrift. October 2023.
Shimmer in Her Eye: My Fourteenth shoot was inspired by the beauty of light reflection. I went outdoors and used a suncatcher to create the cool effect. October 2023
Hope is the Thing With Feathers: For my fifteenth self-portrait shoot, I used a bag of feather boas to come up with this concept. This is also the first shoot I did with my camera instead of my iphone. December 2023
Luxury: My sixteenth shoot was inspired by a pair of ripped tights. I imagined them as gloves and ran with the concept of a dark, edgy shoot. My cat Theo was the perfect addition. December 2023
Mixoloshe: For my seventeenth shoot, I wanted to try doing an ad for one of my favorite products, the non-alcoholic Mixoloshe drink. I wanted them to be luxurious and moody. This was also my first time styling a drink in a shoot. January 2024
As If!!: Staying on the theme of favorites, my eighteenth shoot was Clueless themed. I wanted to challenge myself to do a clone shoot, so I styled 4 different looks and shot all day at a tennis court. January 2024.
Perfume Ad: After completing the Mixoloshe shoot, I wanted to do another ad shoot. I have always wanted to be in a perfume ad, so I thought I would make my own. I took my favorite Pacifica perfume, and this was the result. Januaey 2024
Be Mine: For valentine's day, I decided to take my photo frame back out and create a "gallery wall" effect with some sheets and a side table. I really wanted to use a real food prop, so I bought a valentine's cake for some interest. February 2024
It's all Roses: I wanted to recycle the roses from my previous self-portrait shoot, so I used an arch I got off a buy-nothing group and used fishing wire to hang the roses. I also played with a new hair style I thought looked cool. February 2024
Pisces Dream: Being a Pisces, I wanted to make a tribute to the sign. After watching a zodiac episode of ANTM, this concept was born with items I had around my house. March 2024.
When It Rains, It Pours: This concept was inspired by being laid off from my job. It serves as a reminder that you can mourn what was while being optimistic for the future. March 2024
My Future : This shoot was inspired by reflection on goals and ambitions. April 2024
